Haunted Toys 'R Us

Remember that show from the late 70’s, early 80’s called That’s Incredible? For those of you young’uns, it was a weekly show hosted by John Davidson, Fran Tarkenton and Cathy Lee Crosby. In the vein of Ripley’s Believe it or Not or Real People (remember that one?), it had various segments of people doing amazing things or wild stunts. In fact, the show pretty much pioneered the use of the phrase “Don’t try this at home”.

For some reason they also focused a lot on unexplainable phenomenon (bigfoot, etc), as well as the paranormal.

That One Time I Saw A Ghost

Below is my first entry ghost story entry to Frighteneering, a 1,400-word account of the one and only time I was convinced I’d seen a ghost. I was ten. Enjoy!


Some of my fondest childhood memories are of summer days spent at my grandparents’. They lived about an hour away, so a few times over summer vacation, I’d spend a whole week with them. Across the street lived the Taylor family who had a boy, Mikey, a year or two younger than me.

Winchester Mystery House Gets A Movie

I've always been fascinated by the story of the Winchester Mystery House. Built by the widow of the maker of the Winchester rifle, she kept workers continually building on it for decades, in an attempt to elude the ghosts of those killed by her husband's creations.

I've not heard about a movie in the works until now, but with Helen Mirren involved, I'm optimistic.
